I'm travelling for work and I've found myself living out of a hotel for a few months. The things I do for money! I wanted to make a Halloween cake for my co-workers, but don't have an oven in my hotel- the pressure cooker did an excellent job! It came out very moist and slightly denser than a cake made in the oven, but it got excellent reviews!


  • boxed cake mix and ingredients to prepare as directed

  • 6 inch round pan- I used this one and had no issues with my cake sticking

  • aluminum foil


  1. Pour 1.5 cups of water in your instant pot and place trivet in pot. Coat your pan with butter or cooking spray.

  2. Prepare your boxed cake mix according to the package directions.

  3. Put half the batter in a 6 inch pan, cover tightly with aluminum foil.

  4. Cook under high pressure for 35 minutes. Let pressure naturally release for 10 minutes, then quick release the remaining pressure.

  5. Carefully remove your cake and allow it to cool, then frost and decorate!

These are a weeknight favorite for busy families! Kids love them, they're crispy, juicy, reasonably healthy & so easy to prepare.


  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1lb boneless skinless chicken breasts

  • salt and pepper

  • 2 tbsp olive oil


1. Slice your chicken breasts into 1 inch strips. Season with salt and pepper. Add oil to a frying pan and heat over medium-high.

2. Coat all sides of each chicken slice with Dijon mustard. Dip in flour and shake off excess.

3. Carefully add to hot oil, and cook until golden brown and cooked through (about 3-4 minutes on each side)

Only 15 minutes to a tender and juicy protein! This recipe is a game changer, and removes excuses for take-out or unhealthy options when I don't feel like cooking :)


  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • boneless skinless chicken breasts

  • salt and pepper

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 cup chicken broth


1. Season chicken with salt and pepper. Set the pressure cooker to sauté and add oil. Once hot, add chicken and sear on both sides until golden (about 3 minutes per side)

2. Transfer chicken to a plate and sprinkle with onion powder and Italian seasoning.

3. Add turn off the pressure cooker, add broth and scrape the bottom with a wooden spoon to deglaze. Place trivet in pot and arrange chicken on top.

4. Set to manual, high pressure and cook for 5 minutes. Release pressure with a controlled quick release, and serve chicken with broth spooned on top.
